What people are saying about Trudy DuMay

After taping the NETV documentary/performance "Hard Times Swing", Joel Geyer, Executive Producer NETV (Lincoln NE), said, "I haven't had a chance to thank you. You were wonderful. Also, your talent does not keep you from being refreshingly gracious. Like swing dancing, I sometimes fear that graciousness is becoming a lost art form. You are its personification."

"She can sing soft and sensitive with songs like You Belong to My Heart, and Could I Have This Dance. Then she can sing New York, New York and blow the plaster off the back wall. I love her vocal versatility."
--Carroll Davis, Dallas TX

"Trudy DuMay's vocal range is amazing! She has a lovely voice. Easy to listen to and the change of styles adds interest to her performance. I'm very impressed."
--Helen Howard, Manhattan KS

"When you sing Perhaps, A Guy is a Guy, and Everybody Loves a Lover, you sound more like Doris Day than Doris Day does!"
--Rockie Rockwell of The Lawrence Welk Show, Sun City AZ

"We get lost in your songs."
--Frank Leighty, Tulsa OK
While attending the University of Nebraska in 1967 she won the prestigious "Jazz Symphonic Vocalist of the Year" award and was featured in many performances with the U of N Jazz Band. Other honors and recognitions include a feature in Jack Lebo's Big Band Report in the American Rag 2002, Big Band USA Magazine feature story, and Journal Star, Lincoln, NE, portrait article 2004. After college, her next step was into the recording studios doing advertising jingles and musical commercials.

Active in musical productions around Lincoln and Omaha, Trudy worked for years with a four piece group before she joined the Bobby Layne Orchestra in 1974. Miss DuMay now travels full time with the Orchestra as the featured vocalist. Working solo, duet and trio, Miss DuMay has a talent for "bringing out the best in a song, in the big band style." Her background in music as well as being a professional model complements her singing career and serves her well in performing beside the professional people the Bobby Layne Orchestra works with.
